A glimpse of the past, living for now, yearning for tomorrow. It all comes by beginnings, then leads to bitter sweet endings. From a joyous “Hi” into a sorrowful “Goodbye”.
Life is like a book that comprises series of chapters, a long journey with numerous stop-overs and a sentence filled with commas and stresses. But all these come together in a single end, destination and in a certain period. Those chapters, stop-overs ,commas and stresses matters the most, for how they are spent determines how the race will end, it doesn’t matter how it was started, but rather how it was finished.
Way back four years, month of June, my sojourn in college started. Day starts…everything is new, from my uniform, the campus and the people around. Got no idea of what awaits in me since I’m just a starter in my course and what seems so vivid then is I’ve got a new life to deal with. Traversing a new path, my college years, it’s more of a serious thing as I usually hear. What comes along my way? Mostly are the unfamiliar faces and at the back of my mind am asking (will they be my friends or even classmates sooner or later???). Instructors?, clueless of who they are, my mind battles then between these lines..(Is He/she strict or kind? But hoping they’re kindJ). First day, first impressions were built, initial conversations uttered (hesitant to initiate till you find yourself bored..) The room is at first quiet, but I am sure it won’t last, I knew it from the start. Some impressions may last, but that silence? I doubt.
Days…, weeks…, months… gone by, there you go! True colors are out! Groups are established, those with the same feathers sticks together, and those with opposite personality clash. Friendship flourished, memories starts to be collected cause in the end all these will just be left being cherished and missed. Friends? They are the one who lightens your burden when you feel like being broken. Always there to tap your back and ready to cheer you up. Rare are those people who loves to be alone. We all need friends, true friends!, a company, a hand to cling on, a shoulder to cry on and whom we can rely on. Those who will stand for you when you’re at your weakest and shares joy and laughter together with you in the highest. So be ware, fake friends are around, the one’s searching for friends just for a benefit, they know you when they need you, they get lost out of the blue when you are need of them. So if you got your real friends with you, treasure them and make the most out of every opportunity when you’re together. Parting time may come, but make sure that your hearts linkages are always connected beyond distance and spaces.
Moving on„, with the usual classroom scenarios after years of togetherness with classmates. Early in the morning greetings of thoughtfulness saying “Tin nakang assignment? Pakopya!. (such a warm welcome!). Who won’t forget the abused words inside the class? “Dinan papel”, “dinan polbo”, “param ballpen”, “tin bang pagtest?”, “megreview naka?”, “ala nang magreview oh!” and with this killer statement of “guys cooperation!”. Well, we are all bounded by our own decisions, to be influenced? or to influence? Your choice! Certainly, we decide for ourselves, what is done for now will be carried out in the future. Consequences are present in all actions taken.
Mind boggling exams, projects to be passed on the deadliest deadline, surprise quizzes, brain draining recitations and endless assignments, those are all part of the pressures in the so called college life. Sleepless nights due to reviews for major exams, cramming for the submission of activities, feeling like giving up all these? Surely! somewhere in time you will miss these. For now, patience and hardwork is the secret, in the end ,a satisfactory grade is what you’re going to get. Apparently all efforts will be paid off and in time you’ll reap the sweet fruits of your labor.
Upon their efforts, we were stretched out to the fullest in our capacities, bringing out the best in us and molding our values on the way it should be. Our instructor’s guidance is our light then towards our aspirations until we come to their realization. Second parents, mentor and a friend in the end, an inspiration for us, Sir or Ma’am as we may address them, million thanks for sharpening our minds and shaping our mindsets.
It’s all about beginning and the end, the ALPHA and the OMEGA. From freshmen into fresh graduates. But in every ending comes a new beginning. A brand new path to thread, a new world to conquer as we are armed by the ideals and principles instilled within. Tears are but natural. It comes out freely as we reminisce the good times shared. Life isn’t all about the taste of sweetness. When life gets you fall on your knees, you are being reminded that He is just a prayer away. Greater things are yet to come, be of good courage and determination. All is well! Long live “P”
